Jamshedpur, June 7: East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar has directed district officials concerned to tighten noose around nursing homes and other health centres involved in female foeticide and tests for sex determination of unborn children.
Addressing a meeting convened on Friday, Kumar said it was important to launch a campaign against female foeticide in the district. In order to stop female foeticide, legal action should be taken against those flouting laws prohibiting sex determination and medical termination of female foeticide, he said.
The DC also underlined the need to spread greater mass awareness to stop female foeticide. Awareness should be spread through various diagnostic centres, nursing homes, hospitals and other places. Surprise raids should also be conducted to check illegal termination of female foetus, he said.
