East Singhbhum celebrates World Table Tennis Day

Jamshedpur, April 10: History was made on 6 April 2015, as the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) hosted and celebrated first ever – annual World Table Tennis Day. On the launch of World Table Tennis Day, ITTF Development Director Leandro OLVECH stated: “We are very excited about the upcoming first World Table Tennis Day. Events can be big or small; the most important thing is to celebrate and share the passion for table tennis, having fun and bringing people together.”

In an endeavor to celebrate the above, East Singhbhum District Table Tennis Association had organised a Table Tennis Championship at JRD Tata Sports Complex on 5th& 6th April. Around 50 participants between the age of 5 and 65 had participated in the championship. The participants were grouped in sub-Jr. (below 13 yrs.), Junior (Below 17 yrs) and seniors were 105 matches were played during the two day event.

Mrinmoy Pradhan won the sub-Jr. Boys event defeating Satwik Saurav 3-0. In Sub-Jr. girls� event Disha Narang was the winner defeating Ritika 3-1. In Jr. Boys category Utkarsh Gupta won the event defeating Hardik Narang 3-1. Sruti Mahananda defeated Saadia Shaikh in Jr. Girls by 3-1. In Senior Men�s event Pawan Preet Singh was the winner while Gokul Kumar was the runner up for the event. Rinki won the Senior Women�s event defeating S Vasanta by 3-0. O. P. Mishra, Chairman & Mr. G. M. Sharan, President of the ESDTTS gave away the prizes.
