Jamshedpur, September 27: The East Singhbhum District Sports Office organized week-long events to mark World Tourism Day 2025, following directives from the Tourism Director. Various activities and competitions were held across educational institutions, engaging students enthusiastically.
The celebrations began on September 25 with a trekking program at Dalma Sanctuary, attended by 40 students from the NSS Unit and Mass Communication Department of Karim City College. The second day, September 26, saw painting and speech competitions held at the college campus. In the painting contest, Shruti Mandal secured first place, Roshni Rani Shah second, and Pooja Gorai third. In the speech competition, Ayush Asthana won first place, while Nandini Dutta came second.
On the third day, September 27, a cleanliness drive was carried out at Burudih Dam in Ghatsila, with Burudih Dam Committee member and tourism expert Manish Jonko participating. The initiative emphasized keeping tourist destinations as clean and hygienic as one’s home.
During the closing ceremony, Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum, Karna Satyarthi, honored the winners with prizes. Deputy Development Commissioner Nagendra Paswan, District Sports Officer Rupa Rani Tirkey, tourism expert Manish Jonko, and other officials were present.
The main aim of the program was to raise awareness about tourism among the youth, promote environmental responsibility, and encourage creative talents through competitions and interactive activities. The week-long events successfully engaged students while highlighting the importance of preserving and promoting local tourist destinations.
