Jamshedpur, Dec. 8: Rotary Club of Jamshedpur West orgnaised a camp at East Bengal School as part of Ujjwal Drishti Abhiyan (Clear Vision Campaign) on Wednesday, December 8.
Rotary’s Ujjwal Drishti Abhiyan is an initiative to examine people of all ages for visual impairments.
In September 2021, MoU was signed with Vision Spring under Ujjwal Dhrishti Abhiyan where Rotary would provide 1 lakh free eyeglasses to the underprivileged as identified by Rotary members through digital modes in India. Any child between 5 to 18 years of age in India can avail free eyeglasses through this campaign.
In today’s campaign 143 students’ eyes were examined by team of doctors from Purnima Nethralay where few students were detected with need for eye glasses. An awareness talk on eye care was organised where children were advised to take proper intake of nutritional food and proteins by opthalmologist from Purnima Netralaya along with Rotarian Alpana Shukla and club secretary Neeta Agarwal. The camp was supported by club president Rajesh Kumar. On the occasion snacks were also distributed among the kids at the camp and school staff.
