Jamshedpur, Sept 28: It was a colourful start with festive fervour and gaiety for the Durga puja revellers at Sonari West Samudaik Bhawan (SWSB) on Maha Panchami, with Jamshedpur MLA Saryu Roy lighting the inaugural lamp.
Roy performed a special aarti of Maa Durga and offered pushpanjali when Swapan Kumar Mukherjee chanted the mantras.
A housefull gathering of members led by president Goutam Bose and other executive members welcomed the local MLA.
Speaking on the occasion, Roy promised all kinds of support for the further development of the community hall and its surroundings. He asked the committee to prepare a blueprint of development work so that he can take it up with concerned authorities in the administration.
Meanwhile, devotional songs were presented during the inauguration by Steel City boy Rahul. The committee members this year have lined up a variety of entertainment functions during all days of the Durga puja. Songs from Bollywood oldies and Tollywood were presented by local singer Goutam Sinha and Rourkela boy Shaan Chakraborty, which were greatly applauded by the large gathering.
This year a prominent attraction in the entertainment section is Dandiya and Garba nite on Maha Astami in which a large number of girls from the society will take part. All the participants have been toiling hard for the past one month in this regard.
This year a selfie corner has been put up for visitors. Another attraction will be special bhog on Maha Astami, which will have added flavour.
