Jamshedpur: An auto-rickshaw slammed into a trailer near Sunsunia Gate in Burmamines on Sunday evening, killing 23-year-old Sakari Leyangi instantly and critically injuring two others. The collision occurred around 4:30 PM as the trailer was exiting Tata Steel’s RMH gate, reportedly due to the auto driver’s high speed and intoxicated state.

According to eyewitnesses, the auto-rickshaw driver was intoxicated and speeding. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed directly into the trailer. The impact was so severe that it completely wrecked the auto-rickshaw, causing chaos on the road. Locals rushed to the scene upon hearing the crash to rescue the trapped passengers.

While one passenger died instantly, two others, including the driver, sustained life-threatening injuries. They are currently undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital, where their condition is reported to be critical.

Upon receiving the information, Burmamines police arrived at the spot, sent the body for post-mortem, and cleared the wreckage to restore traffic. Preliminary investigations point toward negligence and drunk driving. Police are investigating the matter and pursuing further legal action.
