Dumri Assembly by-poll counting today; all parties keep fingers crossed

Ranchi: All political parties in Jharkhand are keeping their fingers crossed as the counting of votes of the Dumri Assembly constituency by-poll starts today.

Voting was held in Dumri Assembly on September 5, the result of which will be announced today. In this by-election, there was a direct fight between the candidates of the opposition alliance ‘India’ and the NDA. The decision was captured by the people in the EVM on September 5. Let us tell you that Jagarnath Mahato, MLA of JMM from Dumri Assembly passed away. After which a by-election was held on this seat.

Baby Devi, the candidate of the opposition alliance ‘India’, is in direct competition with NDA candidate Yashoda Devi in the Dumri Assembly seat. Amid JMM’s claim that ‘India’ will start its victory journey from Dumri, the seat has become a prestige issue for both alliances. At the same time, NDA has expressed confidence that it is fully prepared to wrest the seat from JMM. After the death of former education minister and JMM MLA Jagarnath Mahato in April, there is a need to conduct by-elections on this seat. Mahato was representing this seat since 2004. JMM has fielded Mahato’s wife Baby Devi as the candidate of ‘India’ alliance, while the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) party has made Yashoda Devi the NDA candidate.

By the way, ‘India’ coalition is formed for the Lok Sabha elections. But Dumri assembly seat in Jharkhand has been made a matter of prestige by ‘India’ and NDA coalition parties. On the one hand, the JMM claims that the I.N.D.I.A alliance will start its victory from this seat. Second, the NDA has said to wrest this seat from the JMM. Apart from this, AIMAI’s Abdul Mobin Rizvi, independent candidate Narayan Giri, Kamal Prasad Sahu and Roshan Lal Turi are claiming their respective victories.

All preparations have been completed for the counting of votes in the Dumri assembly by-election. The votes will be counted at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee at Pachamba in Ranchi.
