Jamshedpur, March 27 : In a proactive move to ensure peace and communal harmony during the Ram Navami immersion processions, the East Singhbhum district administration has declared a complete “dry day” on Saturday.
Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi, all 109 licensed liquor outlets across the district—including Jamshedpur city and rural areas—will remain shut for the day.
The decision aims to prevent any untoward incidents amid large public gatherings and to maintain strict law and order during the sensitive festive period. Authorities believe that restricting alcohol sales will significantly reduce the risk of disturbances during the immersion processions.
Reinforcing the directive, Assistant Excise Commissioner Arun Kumar Mishra has issued stringent instructions to all license holders, mandating the closure of shops without exception.
The order clearly states that any violation—whether through over-the-counter or clandestine sales—will invite strict legal action against the offenders.
With heightened vigilance around the festivities, the administration has signaled zero tolerance for lapses, underscoring its commitment to a safe and orderly celebration.
