Jamshedpur, June 22: Bharatiya Janata Party’s national vice president and former Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das congratulated former Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu on being chosen as the Presidential candidate by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Das thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda and other senior party leaders for approving Murmu’s name in the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting.
“This is the first time when a Santhal Adivasi woman has been selected for the topmost Constitutional post of the country. PM Mode first made her Governor and now has chosen her as a Presidential candidate. This is a matter of pride for Jharkhand and the entire country as the tribal society has been conserving our ancient culture,” he said.
Das appealed to all political parties to lend support to Droupadi Murmu. He also urged Opposition Presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha to withdraw his name and support Murmu.
