Drones to monitor Hindu New Year procession in Jamshedpur on April 5

DC reviews security arrangements, stress on Model Code compliance

Jamshedpur, April 3: East Singhbhum district administration Wednesday decided to make tight security arrangements during the Hindu New Year procession going to be taken out in the city on April 5.

In view of the huge turnout expected during the celebration, the district administration will be using drones to keep an eye on the procession. Police forces will be guarding sensitive places across the city throughout the programme.

Chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner cum Returning Officer, Amit Kumar, said no one will be allowed to violate the Model Code of Conduct. The Election Commission of India has issued guidelines for organizing various public events ahead of the polls and hence one and all should follow them in letter and spirit, he said.

Kumar said the district administration would be keeping a close watch on the participants to make sure the law and order situation is under control. He ordered barricading of all sensitive places ahead of the event.

Meanwhile, the DC directed the district officials to clean all river ghats ahead of Chaiti Chhath.

Kumar also discussed and reviewed poll preparations in the district and issued instructions to the officials concerned.
