Jamshedpur, June 12: In a late-night robbery incident under the Golmuri police station area, unidentified assailants attacked the driver and helper of a 407 goods carrier, leaving both injured before fleeing with valuables, including a gold-and-silver chain and other belongings.
According to reports, the driver and helper had arrived at a transport company in Golmuri with a consignment.
As the goods could not be unloaded due to the late hour, they parked the vehicle near the transport premises and decided to spend the night inside.
At around 2–2.30 a.m., two to three masked youths approached the vehicle and asked them to open the door.
When the occupants refused, the miscreants demanded money for parking the vehicle at the spot. Fearing trouble, the driver slightly opened a window and handed over Rs 500.
However, they demanded more cash.
When the driver attempted to give money again, the attackers allegedly struck the window with a chopper, shattering the glass. They then forced their way into the vehicle and brutally assaulted both.
The driver sustained two deep chopper injuries on his hand and was seriously wounded, while the helper also suffered injuries during the attack.
The assailants snatched a gold-and-silver chain from the driver and looted other belongings before fleeing.
Before leaving, they allegedly threatened to kill the victims if they reported the matter.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
