Jamshedpur: DRDO to boost Adityapur MSMEs with Defence Conclave 2026

Jamshedpur: Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Adityapur are set to get a major push as the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) partners with industry bodies to connect regional manufacturers with India’s defence ecosystem. The MSME Defence Conclave 2026 will be held at the Adityapur Auto Cluster on January 16 and 17, aiming to strengthen Aatmanirbhar Bharat by integrating local engineering capabilities with defence requirements.

Over 62 stalls booked; strong industry participation

More than 62 stalls have already been booked for the conclave, including 52+ local engineering MSMEs and 10+ defence-sector institutions. Organisers said additional open display space will be made available to accommodate more exhibitors seeking to showcase products and services relevant to defence manufacturing.

DRDO exhibition to highlight defence opportunities

A dedicated DRDO exhibition will give local entrepreneurs first-hand exposure to defence technologies, standards, and procurement needs. The platform is expected to help MSMEs align their existing automotive and engineering strengths with defence production, opening new business avenues and long-term partnerships.

Joint initiative by industry bodies

The conclave is being organised by the Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA), with support from the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Bharat Chamber of Commerce as the nodal agency. The objective is to enable direct interaction between MSMEs, defence institutions, and government buyers.

Senior dignitaries to attend

Defence Minister of State Sanjay Seth and former Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha are expected to attend as chief guests, providing policy insights and guidance on opportunities within India’s expanding defence manufacturing sector.

B2B meetings, panels, and policy discussions

Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce President Manav Kedia said the state-level conclave would be a significant opportunity for MSMEs across Jharkhand. “The event will feature B2B meetings, direct dialogue with government buyers, and seminars and panel discussions on defence indigenisation, government policies, and export prospects,” he said.

Adityapur Auto Cluster to benefit

ASIA President Inder Agrawal noted that while around 17,000 MSMEs nationwide are linked to defence manufacturing, participation from Jamshedpur and nearby regions remains limited. “Adityapur has a strong base of auto component manufacturers. This conclave will clearly explain what products and capabilities are required for defence, enabling local units to enter the sector,” he said.

Boost to self-reliance and local economy

Organisers believe the MSME Defence Conclave 2026 will create new business opportunities, reduce import dependence, and integrate Adityapur’s industrial base into the national defence supply chain—giving regional MSMEs a decisive lift and contributing to India’s self-reliance goals.
