Drawing winners felicitated at YMCA’s I-Day celebration 

Jamshedpur: Head tribal identity Tata Steel Foundation Jiren Xavier Topno pitched for inclusive development of all section of the society at the Independence Day celebration and prize distribution function of painting competition organised by Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) Jamshedpur chapter on Tuesday.

 

Addressing the gathering at YMCA’s office premises in Sakchi, Jiren Xavier Topno who has been associated with Tata Steel for over two decades in various roles at Joda, Noamundi, Kalinganagar and Jamshedpur said, real Independence can be achieved when all section of the society including tribals and marginalised are also developed.

He also called for maintaining unity in the society and condemned the violence happening in various parts of the country including Manipur.

 

He also distributed awards to first, second and third position holders of the painting competition held on Saturday.

 

Significantly, over 50 students from different schools took part in the painting competition organised on topic of ‘save environment- save earth’.

 

Students were divided into different groups based on their classes.

Incidentally, students from lower kindergarten and class six were eligible for participation in the competition.

 

The winners were judged by a panel comprising art teachers from Dayanand Public School, Sakchi, Surajit Ghosh and well known art teacher Durga Bannerjee.

 

Incidentally, YMCA is an international organisation aiming at empowering young people and communities to be and lead the changes they want to see in the society.

 

YMCA Jamshedpur president Michael Sandeep Madhu outlined the objectives and mission of YMCA and announced of hosting similar social welfare programs providing a platform for poor students.

 

Madhumita Munda, coming from a very humble background and a resident of Birsanagar who was recently selected for the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship program and will be pursuing a master’s degree from UK university also motivated the students and the gathering.
