Jamshedpur, Sep 21: Dr. Shikha Rani has made history by becoming the first woman superintendent of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Medical College Hospital. Her appointment, announced by Government’s Joint Secretary Lalit Mohan Shukla, will officially take effect on Saturday. Prior to this role, Dr. Shikha served as a professor in the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department at MGM. She expressed her commitment to enhancing patient care and hospital facilities, indicating plans to convene with department heads and medical staff to develop a strategic plan. While there has been no official statement regarding the status of Dr. Ravindra Kumar, who previously held the superintendent position, Dr. Shikha’s groundbreaking appointment signals a positive step towards gender representation in leadership roles within the medical field.
