Dr. Nirmal Kumar raises awareness on World Stroke Day

Jamshedpur: In observance of World Stroke Day, former MGM doctor Dr. Nirmal Kumar took the initiative to raise awareness among the public at his clinic situated in Baradwari. Alongside medical professionals, patients also pledged to embrace a healthier lifestyle. Dr. Nirmal Kumar highlighted the growing concern of strokes in our fast-paced lives, attributing it to shifting dietary patterns. He emphasized that regular exercise can play a pivotal role in stroke prevention. Additionally, quitting smoking and adopting a nutritious diet substantially reduce the risk of strokes.

Dr. Nirmal Kumar shared crucial information about recognizing early stroke symptoms, such as one-sided weakness, speech difficulties, confusion, and facial distortion. He stressed the importance of regular check-ups for individuals above the age of 40, as well as avoiding drugs, especially tobacco and alcohol. Controlling cholesterol, sugar levels, and managing obesity were identified as significant steps in stroke prevention. On World Stroke Day, a collective pledge was taken to expand awareness about this condition, aiming to educate more people about its prevention and management.
