Jamshedpur: A significant meeting brought together villagers to address the traditional tribal ‘Ho’ self-governance system known as Manki-Munda, situated near Haludbani Lohia Bhawan Sidhu-Kanhu Chowk in Parsudih. The gathering was conducted at the Haludbani Panchayat level and was presided over by social activist Jaipal Sirka.’
Jaipal Sirka, in his speech, emphasized the historical significance of the Manki-Munda system, which has been an integral part of the community’s heritage since ancient times. He stressed the importance of strengthening and streamlining this unique system. During the meeting, new officers were appointed to oversee and enhance the operations of the system in the four Panchayats.
The appointed officers included Munda Nepa Gagrai, Dakua Samu Hembram, Diuri Sangi Biruli, Yatra Diuri, Selai Hembram from the western zone, Munda Ramchandra Tiu from the eastern zone, Dakua Captain Purti, Diuri Khudiram Hembram, Yatra Diuri Purushottam Birwa, Munda Gambhir Soe, Dakua Anand Gagrai, Diuri Manki Hembram, Yatra Diuri Mahesh Gagrai, and Munda Dhanu Purti. Additionally, Dakua Kishan Honahaga, Diuri Lagra Purti, Yatra Diuri Sundar Hembram were selected from the central region.
The meeting witnessed active participation from social workers, educators, intellectuals, public representatives, farmers, and a large number of villagers. Sampoorna Savaiya extended a warm welcome to the attendees, and Munda Gambhir Soe delivered the vote of thanks. Notable figures, including Chief Suman Sirka, Dhatu Hembram, Raina Purti, Santosh Purti, and Bablu Bhumij, were present at the event.
