Dr. Asha Lakra inspects hostel at Jamshedpur Women’s University

Jamshedpur, August 5: Dr. Asha Lakra, Member of the National Scheduled Tribes Commission, and her team arrived at Jamshedpur Women’s University to inspect the CV Raman Hostel. The visit was accompanied by a traditional welcome featuring dance and an NSS clap, with NCC students escorting the delegation.

The inspection included a walkthrough of the hostel facilities, attended by Hostel Superintendent Dr. Ratna Mitra, the hostel staff, and Honourable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anjila Gupta. Following the inspection, a program was held in the Audio-Visual Hall, presided over by Prof. Dr. Gupta. In her address, Dr. Gupta expressed gratitude to Dr. Lakra and highlighted the university’s achievements.

Dr. Lakra praised Jamshedpur Women’s University as a pioneering institution, being the first women’s university in Jharkhand. She emphasized the need for a shift in the mindset towards Scheduled Tribes and advocated for inclusive progress. She commended the hostel’s food arrangements and overall facilities, noting the provision for good cooks and quality meals.

During the visit, Dr. Lakra also spoke to hostel students about the workings of the Scheduled Tribe Commission. The program concluded with a vote of thanks and stage management by Dr. Nupur Anvita Minj. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Research Officer PK, Welfare Officer Rajendra Prasad Gupta, Proctor Dr. Sudhir Kumar Sahu, Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Kishwar Ara, Controller of Examinations Dr. Rama Subramaniam, and several faculty members and students.
