DAV Bistupur hosts Youth Parliament, UN General Assembly simulation

Jamshedpur, August 5: DAV Public School Bistupur emphasized experiential learning by organizing a Youth Parliament and United Nations General Assembly simulation on August 5, 2024, for students in classes 5 through 8. The event aimed to provide students with a practical understanding of parliamentary and international diplomatic processes.

In the Youth Parliament, 78 students represented leaders from both ruling and opposition parties. The discussion centred on the topic of ‘Reservation: Caste or Economic Basis,’ and the consensus was to base reservation on economic conditions to better aid those in need. The proposal was passed unanimously.

Simultaneously, 59 students participated in the United Nations General Assembly simulation, representing 59 different countries. The debate focused on ‘Global Warming,’ with representatives agreeing that reducing dependence on traditional energy sources and increasing the use of electric vehicles are crucial steps. A bill for climate protection through non-conventional energy was also passed unanimously.

The program began with the DAV song and the lighting of a lamp, following school traditions. Principal Pragya Singh, who is also ARO Jharkhand Zone E, encouraged students to use the insights gained from the simulation to address real-world issues and apply their learning in everyday life.
