Jamshedpur: Congress candidate from Jamshedpur East, Dr. Ajoy Kumar, officially filed his nomination papers on Thursday at the SDO office. Accompanied by Advocate Pradeep Kumar Singh, senior Congress leader Ramashray Prasad, and proposers P.N. Jha and Ravindra Jha (alias Nattu Jha), Dr. Kumar submitted his nomination in two sets.
Before filing his nomination, Dr. Kumar and his supporters offered prayers at the Hanuman temple at Golmuri Chowk and later gathered at Ambagwan Ground, where he addressed the crowd. Following the address, he led a procession to the SDO office to formally file his nomination.
Speaking to the media after the nomination, Dr. Ajoy Kumar made a bold statement, saying, “Jamshedpur East has been under the control of a single family for the past 25 years. My first priority is to free the people from the terror and fear instilled by this family.” He criticized the BJP for promoting nepotism, pointing out that despite their stance against it, they have given tickets to family members of key figures in Kolhan. “BJP has shown its true colors by awarding tickets to the wives, sons, and daughters-in-law of their leaders, including Arjun Munda’s wife Meera Munda, former Chief Minister Champai Soren’s son Babulal Soren, and Governor Raghubar Das’s daughter-in-law Purnima Sahu,” he stated.
Dr. Kumar also laid out his key priorities, focusing on health, education, and employment. He emphasized the need to solve the ongoing issue of ownership rights in Jamshedpur and across the state, vowing to establish a commission to address this problem if elected. He also promised to advocate for the unorganized labor force, stating his commitment to building an ESI hospital in Jamshedpur to improve health services for workers.
On the education front, Dr. Kumar proposed upgrading government schools into Chief Minister Model Schools that would provide CBSE education.
In a sharp jab at his opponent, former Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Dr. Ajoy Kumar remarked, “If you visit my home, you’ll receive tea, biscuits, and help with your work. But if you go to Raghubar Das’s house, you’ll be met with insults, mistreatment, and disappointment.”
