Jamshedpur, April 15: Jamshedpur Civil Court’s advocate Abhishek Jha was acquitted in the dowry death case by the court of ADJ-4 Rajendra Kumar Sinha of Jamshedpur Court on Saturday during the hearing of the case.
The advocate was accused of killing his wife for dowry and hanging her body. The court has given the benefit of doubt to the accused advocate.
Additional Public Prosecutor Rajeev Kumar told that five people had testified in the case. Advocate Abhishek Jha was married to Richa Jha, a resident of Birsanagar Vastu Vihar, on 18 May 2015.
In relation to the incident, a case of dowry death was registered at Birsanagar police station on the statement of Richa’s mother Indu Shekhar Jha. It was alleged that since the marriage, the in-laws were demanding a scooter and gold chain. The daughter was tortured for not giving dowry. On April 29, 2016, mother Indu Shekhar Jha had gone to bring milk at five in the evening. On returning, she saw that the daughter was hanging on the noose. Neighbors also gathered on the attack and took Richa to the hospital, but the doctors declared her dead. After the incident, the police also recovered the suicide note.
