Double admission option for students at Kolhan University from next session

Jamshedpur, Jan 4: Kolhan University (KU) is set to introduce a significant change in its admission process starting from the 2025-26 academic session. Under the National Education Policy (NEP), students will have the opportunity to take admission twice a year, offering increased flexibility for those unable to enroll in the first round. This new system will apply to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) recently issued an order formalizing this change, and the guidelines have already reached Kolhan University. According to the UGC order, the admission process will now be conducted biannually, benefiting students who face obstacles in applying during the first round, be it due to personal, technical, or academic reasons.

This move will be especially advantageous for students from rural areas and those who have failed to secure admission in the initial phase due to reappearing exams. Earlier, students had the chance to apply only once a year for undergraduate (UG) programs. With the new system, those who could not apply earlier will be able to participate in the second round of admissions.

The option to apply a second time will be welcomed by students who wish to expedite their academic journey, particularly those who have improved their academic standing after reappearing for exams. “This initiative will empower students, especially from underprivileged sections of society, by offering them another opportunity to join the university,” said an official from the university. “It will also prevent students from having to wait an entire year due to unforeseen circumstances.”

The university is already making preparations to implement this change. KU’s administration is gearing up to finalize the logistics and ensure a smooth transition to the new system. “We are working on the necessary infrastructure and software to manage the double admission process effectively,” the official added.

In related news, applications for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for postgraduate (PG) courses have also begun. The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the start of online applications for CUET PG 2025 on January 2. The exam, which will be held as a Computer-Based Test (CBT), is scheduled from March 13 to March 31, 2025. The NTA has also set a correction window from February 3 to February 5, 2025, during which candidates can make adjustments to their applications.

CUET PG 2025 will be conducted in 157 subjects and across 312 cities, including 27 international centers. The examination centers will be announced in the first week of March 2025. This opportunity to apply and participate in the entrance test is also seen as a step towards enhancing accessibility and fair chances for students nationwide.
