Target to cover 15 lakh under Sarvajanan Pension Scheme
Ranchi, June 9: On the directive of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, state government has been on an overdrive to link all eligible persons with Sarvajanan (Universal) pension scheme under social security pension schemes from June 8 onwards.
The Sarvajan Pension Yojana was launched in November 2021 through which the eligibility to avail the benefits of the pension schemes was simplified so that all eligible persons can be linked to the Social Security Pension Scheme. After the implementation of the scheme, the total number of beneficiaries increased to 13,76,225. A total of 3,97,495 new beneficiaries were provided with the benefits of Social Security Pension schemes. The state government has set a target of providing the benefits of the social security pension scheme to every eligible person.
According to an estimate made by the Government, 15,03,486 people were not found to be covered by the Sarvajan Pension Yojana after reviewing the number of voters above 60 years of age mentioned in the voters list and district wise number of beneficiaries receiving old age pension. The work towards identifying all the eligible persons for the Sarvajan Pension Yojana and linking them with the Social Security Pension Scheme has commenced. To achieve this task in the most efficient manner, teams are being formed at the level of each polling center in their respective blocks by the Block Development Officers in rural areas and Circle Officers in the urban areas.
This group is being made available with details related to the voters’ list of the various polling booths, eligibility of beneficiaries for various schemes as well as adequate number of forms. The team of BLO, Anganwadi Sevikas, and Sahayika will be doing door-to-door surveys so as to conduct physical verification after obtaining necessary documents taking into record all the details of eligible beneficiaries deprived of the benefits of various social security schemes.
Also, if an eligible beneficiary does not have the necessary documents, after receiving the application form from the beneficiary, it will be ensured that relevant certificates are issued to them through a special drive.
