Jamshedpur, March 6: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of East Singhbhum Prabhat Kumar Monday appealed to citizens to celebrate Holi with peace and brotherhood. He said police would be keeping a close watch on trouble-mongers and hooligans. Those creating ruckus in the name of celebrating Holi would be dealt with strictly, he warned.

The SSP said those playing objectionable and offensive songs publicly may have to spend time behind the bars. A quick response team (QRT) would be deputed across the city during the festival. Flying squads would also be pressed into service to keep peace, said the SSP. “All officers in-charge of police stations have been directed to ensure peace in their respective areas. Magistrates have been deputed at religious places for Shab-e-Baraat and Holi. Additional forces would be deputed at sensitive places. Reserve forces would be kept at the Composite Control Room. Tainted persons would be summoned to the police station and those accused in rioting and Section 107 cases would be required to give attendance at the police station every day,” said the SSP.
