Jamshedpur, July 2: Jamshedpur witnessed a unique celebration of Doctor’s Day as doctors from the city commemorated the 162nd birth anniversary of the revered poet Guru Rabindranath Tagore at the Rabindra Bhawan, Sakchi, the city’s Kala Sanskriti Kendra. The doctors showcased their artistic talents by reciting the poetic works of Tagore on this special occasion.
The program commenced with the inaugural address delivered by Dr. H.S. Pal, the President of the Tagore Society. Dr. Gautam Dasgupta then mesmerized the audience by reciting Tagore’s poems in his own heartfelt voice, captivating the doctors present. Following this, Dr. Sumangala Biswas presented a soulful song composed by the celebrated poet himself. Dr. Alok Devdas also addressed the gathering, adding to the significance of the event.

The doctors chose to celebrate Doctor’s Day in a distinct and artistic manner, adding a different dimension to the occasion. Notable physicians, including Dr. Shubhendu Mandal, Dr. Pradipta Kundu, Dr. Oindrila Chakraborty, Dr. Vishwajit Sen, Dr. Sabyasanchi Sen, Dr. Vani Deb, Dr. Amit Mukherjee, Dr. Anup Gupta, Dr. Somshankar Chowdhary, Dr. S.O. Kundu, Dr. Arup Ratan Basu, Dr. Ishani Chakraborty, Dr. Indranil Bhaduri, Dr. Soma Ghosh, Dr. Raja Dutt, and Dr. Sudip Mukherjee, showcased their artistic skills during the program. Their creative contributions added a personal touch to the celebration, making it a truly memorable event.
The entire program was expertly coordinated by Suparna Rai, who ensured its smooth execution. Ashish Chaudhuri, the General Secretary of the Tagore Society, shed light on the purpose of this unique program. He emphasized that while Doctor’s Day is a day to honor and respect doctors as “God on earth,” it is essential to acknowledge their happiness as well. The doctors’ display of their artistic talents not only brought them joy and self-satisfaction but also made the day even more special. The celebration of Doctor’s Day in Jamshedpur, through the recitation of Tagore’s poetic creations, provided a platform for doctors to express their artistic side.
