DLSA flags off door-to-door legal awareness drive, to spread across 11 blocks

Jamshedpur: To facilitate legal awareness among the common masses, Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority( Jhalsa) has flagged off Mobile LokAdalat cum Legal Awareness vans to reach the remotest region.

Acting on the directives of Jhalsa member-secretary Arun Kumar Raithe East Singhbhum district legal service authority (DLSA) on Thursday flagged off four-vansfor spreading door-to-door legal awareness drive.It will be taking para-legal volunteers (PLVs) across all the 11 blocks in the district as part of the 100-days drive.

East Singhbhum district labour judge, L. P Chaubey flagged off the first van from the premises of the Jamshedpur civil court in the presence of principal judge, family court, Jamshedpur, Satya Prakash, secretary Jamshedpur Bar Association (JBA), Anil Kumar Tiwary and secretary East Singhbhum DLSA, S. N Sikdar.

Secretary of East Singhbhum DLSA, S. N Sikdar said that the three vans will be carrying the PLVs, as part of the door-to-door legal awareness drive in areas under the Jamshedpur civil court while one van has been pressed into service for Ghatshila court (catering to Ghatshila sub-division).

The van would travel mainly in the remote and tribal areas of the district to impart legal awareness till the grassroots level. One of its main objectives will be to resolve disputes amicably with arbitration.

“The legal team will provide information about new laws, rights, legal services and aid. It will also counsel attendees of the camp with legal problems,” noted an official.

� As part of the drive we have formed 15 teams of PLVs comprising three members each and these teams will be covering 11 blocks of the district. The legal awareness campaign is aimed at helping victim of crimes like women, children and member of deprived classes especially tribals, primitive tribal groups, disabled, said Sikdar.

The idea is to provide justice to the masses at their doorstep. The van will be used for legal literacy drives and LokAdalats with a view to providing legal assistance to the needy and marginal sections of society.
