Jamshedpur , Oct 17: As Jharkhand prepares to celebrate Diwali on Monday, October 20, weather enthusiasts and festival-goers are keeping a close eye on the forecasts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated a mixed weather scenario for the state, with southern districts likely to experience showers or even thunderstorms, while the remaining regions can expect mostly dry and pleasant conditions.
According to the latest forecasts, the upper air cyclonic circulation currently positioned over north Jharkhand and its neighbouring region is influencing local weather patterns.
This system is expected to bring increased cloudiness and instability particularly over the southern districts, including parts of Singhbhum, Gumla, and West Ranchi divisions.
Residents in these areas should prepare for intermittent rain and the possibility of thunder during the festive evening, potentially impacting outdoor Diwali celebrations such as fireworks and open-air pujas.
For other regions across the state, including Ranchi, Hazaribagh, and Deoghar, skies are expected to remain partly cloudy with largely dry conditions prevailing.
The morning of October 21 may start with light fog or mist in some interior areas, but the day is likely to clear up, providing a bright and calm post-Diwali environment.
Daytime temperatures across the state are expected to hover between 26°C and 32°C, while nighttime lows may settle around 18°C to 22°C, making for a relatively comfortable festive season.
Wind speeds are predicted to remain light to moderate, generally ranging between 5 to 15 Kmph, which should allow for safe handling of firecrackers in most districts.
Humidity levels are expected to be moderate, providing relief from the lingering post-monsoon dampness.
Looking ahead, October 19 will see partly cloudy skies with predominantly dry conditions across the state, while October 21 is forecasted to be mostly clear, save for morning fog or mist in some pockets.
Overall, Jharkhand is set to experience a festive Diwali week, blending moments of celebratory dryness with localized showers in the southern belt.
