Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi inaugurated the district-level Subroto Cup football competition at Tinplate Ground in Golmuri on Wednesday, marking the start of two days of spirited matches among young footballers from across East Singhbhum.
The tournament features under-17 boys’ and girls’ teams representing all blocks of the district. The inauguration ceremony began with the Deputy Commissioner releasing balloons and ceremonially kicking off the football to signal the commencement of play. The event drew the presence of District Education Officer, District Education Superintendent, Assistant Program Officer, and a large gathering of sports enthusiasts.
Addressing the players, Karn Satyarthi described the Subroto Cup as a prestigious platform that nurtures talent and builds confidence. He encouraged all participants to compete with discipline and sportsmanship, reminding them that victory and defeat are part of the game, but true success lies in teamwork, dedication, and respect for opponents.
The matches will continue over the next two days, with the winning teams set to qualify for further competitions beyond the district level.
