Jamshedpur : The police administration has decided to revamp patrolling in the city. From now onwards instead of 3-4 policemen who usually travels in the air-conditioned patrolling vehicles ( Tata Safari), there will be a single cop who will direct the cops on bikes for action after receiving call.
The district police have decided to introduce the new system across all the 17 police stations in the steel city from tomorrow.
Revealing about the initiative, senior superintendent of police, Anoop T Mathew said that they have decided to bring in the new pattern of patrolling as it will be more effective and help to respond soon.
” The cops on bike, which are better known Mobile Tigers were patrolling the streets on their own choice. At the same time the becon light-fitted patrolling vans used to do their rounds independently. But now each of the patrolling vans has been tagged with four or five Mobile Tiger units for an effective management of policing,” said Mathew.
The senior SP said that a person in distress tends to ring toll-free 100 number which is installed at the Police Control Room (PCR) in Sakchi.
He said that the Tiger Mobile cops as well as the patrolling car will concentrate on the places where drugs and illicit liquor are consumed while at the same time will carry our surprise checking of the suspected criminals moving either on sports bike or in tinted car,” said the senior police officer. Apart from focusing on snatchers the mobile cops will also pay special attention at the commercial banks.
Moreover, women cops will keep an eye on eve teasing at strategic places across the steel city. The teams will work in tandem with tiger mobile jawans and officer incharge of local police stations.
Police sources said 35 women constables will be on duty at stragetic locations like Nicco Park, Jubilee Park, Tata Steel Zoological Park, Hudco Dam, Dimna Lake, Mody Park Sakchi Aam Bagan Maidan and Sakchi turnaround.
There will be four women constables in separate teams which have already started the job. Several cases like these have become common in the city. However the police look serious to curb the menace.
