District coordination committee reviews progress of government schemes

Jamshedpur: District administration has set the ball rolling to expedite work on various government schemes in order to ensure their timely completion before this year end.

In this connection, the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar convened a meeting of the District Coordination Committee to review the progress of various government projects and schemes. He inquired about the current status of different projects including those related to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), widow pension, scholarship distribution, agriculture input subsidy, Aadhar seeding, unemployment compensation and land revenue.

The DC was told that around 59 per cent of the task related to Indira Awas had been completed in the district so far. He said the remaining task should be completed by 30th September compulsorily. He was also informed that 96 per cent of the Aadhar seeding work had been completed.

He said the remaining work should be done by 15th September. He was further apprised of the fact that 81 per cent job card holders now had their bank account opened. A deadline of 10th September has been set for opening the bank accounts of the remaining beneficiaries.

During the meeting, the block development officers (BDOs) were asked to furnish certificates to show that no family belonging to the primitive tribal groups of Jharkhand were left out in the process of inclusion of such families in pension schemes.

The BDOs were also asked to get accounts of beneficiaries opened to ensure smooth sailing of the direct benefit of transfer (DBT) scheme. District welfare officer was asked to make sure cent per cent distribution of scholarships and bicycles among students.

The DC was told that the scholarship fund had been made transferred to the village education committees. He also ordered that the cases of delayed payment in MGNREGS projects should be minimized to zero.

The DC said a committee had been formed under the chairmanship of ADM Subodh Kumar for the monitoring of dakhal dehani of land. Camps will be held in all circles to deal with dakhil kharij matters.
