District Congress organizes sit-in against starvation deaths

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum district Congress committee is going to launch a statewide agitation to protest the alleged starvation deaths at four places in Jharkhand. As a first step, the committee organized a sit-in near Sakchi roundabout on Monday.
Leading the agitation, district Congress president Vijay Khan alleged that the state government had failed in preventing the starvation deaths. He demanded sacking of Chief Minister Raghubar Das and sought necessary measures to prevent repetition of such incidents. He said the state government was not taking the Food Security law passed by the UPA government seriously. As a result, people are dying of starvation, he said.
A delegation of Congress members met the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Amit Kumar after the sit-in and handed him a memorandum addressed to Jharkhand governor Draupadi Murmu.
Among those present on the occasion included Dulal Bhuiyan, Usha Singh, Sanjay Singh Azad, Surendra Sharma, Rohit Sharma, Durga Prasad, Gautam Kumar, Raju Sharma, Rita Gupta, Shrawan Sahu and Aparna Guha.
