Jamshedpur: District Bharatiya Janata Party leaders paid homage to Bhagwan Birsa Munda on the occasion of his 118th death anniversary celebrated as Sacrifice Day (Balidan Diwas) on Saturday.
Party leaders and supporters gathered before the statue of the great martyr at Sunday Market in Birsanagar and remembered the sacrifices made by Birsa Munda for the country�s freedom. They garlanded the statue and made an appeal to youths to follow in the footsteps of the great son of the country.
Addressing the gathering, district BJP president Dinesh Kumar said Birsa Munda had given his life for the freedom of the people from the fetters of English rule. Jharkhand�s present form and the country�s freedom are due to bravehearts like Birsa Munda, said Kumar.
Many party leaders were present on the occasion. They included Jharkhand State Women�s Commission chairperson Kalyani Sharan, State Minority Commission vice president Gurdev Singh Raja, Chandrashekhar Mishra, Sanjeev Singh, Khemlal Choudhary, Gunjan Yadav, Nitin Chandra Trivedi, Amarjeet Singh Raja, Bunty Agrawal, Vikram Chandrakar, Depak Jha and Dhruv Mishra.
