District administration and committees collaborate for harmonious Durga Puja celebrations in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur:  The district administration and the Durga Puja Committee will need to work together to ensure a successful and harmonious Durga Puja celebration this year, according to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Jamshedpur. This sentiment was echoed during the general meeting of the Jamshedpur Durga Puja Central Committee, held at Sidgora Town Hall.

During the meeting, Annay Mittal, a key figure in the committee, emphasized the importance of identifying potential challenges early and addressing them before the festivities begin. “We have ample time to address any issues and ensure that the Durga Puja is celebrated with joy and harmony,” Mittal said. “We need to focus on even the smallest details to avoid any problems during the Puja.”

The meeting saw the participation of representatives from 310 Durga Puja committees across the city, and it was presided over by Achintam Das Gupta, President of the Jamshedpur Durga Puja Central Committee. Gupta highlighted the committee’s commitment to social welfare, announcing that each Durga Puja committee would distribute clothes and grains to five underprivileged families in their respective areas.

“We will ensure a successful Durga Puja festival through mutual cooperation among all committees and by maintaining coordination with the district administration,” said Gupta. “All issues, including those related to the immersion of Maa Durga’s idol, will be resolved through zonal meetings without compromising on faith.”

General Secretary Ashutosh Singh presented the annual report, and Vice President Diwakar Singh extended a vote of thanks. The meeting was attended by several notable figures, including Superintendent of Police City cum Rural Rishabh Garg, Deputy City Administrators Krishna Kumar and Ranjit Lohar, and other committee members.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishore Kaushal assured the committee of the police department’s readiness to assist in the celebration. “Durga Puja is a major event, and it is crucial to take care of every detail,” said Kaushal. He urged the Durga Puja committees to cooperate with the police and administration, emphasizing the importance of mutual coordination for a successful event.

Kaushal also outlined several measures to ensure safety and smooth operations during the festivities. These include stationing committee members in the CCTV control rooms at major Puja pandals, restricting shop setups on roads to prevent traffic jams, and placing banners with police and committee contact numbers in key areas. Additionally, he stressed the need for thorough checks on vehicles used during idol immersions and ensuring readiness with backup generators in case of power outages.

In a notable environmental initiative, Vice President Niraj Singh announced that each Durga Puja committee would receive 10 plants. Singh encouraged all committees to take care of these plants, promoting environmental consciousness alongside the celebration of Navratri. The Jamshedpur Durga Puja Central Committee lauded Singh’s efforts in promoting sustainability.

The collaborative efforts between the district administration, police, and various Puja committees are expected to enhance the Durga Puja celebrations in Jamshedpur this year, ensuring they are conducted in a safe, organized, and environmentally friendly manner.
