Displaced persons plan stir against UCIL management

Mail News Service

Jadugoda, Feb 27: The displaced persons are gearing up to agitate against the UCIL management for overlooking their rightful demands as stated by the joint platforms of UCIL Visthapith Prabhavit Sanyukt Morcha. The Morcha leaders are going out to villages, holding meetings and trying to garner support for the planned agitations. They are driving home the points that the UCIL management is oblivious to their rightful demands. The Morcha held a meeting at Hadtopa Football Maidan to address the displaced persons whose landed properties had been taken over by the uranium project for the seven mines of the Mahuldih Uranium Project.

After the meeting, the Morcha president Somay Kisku said that the displaced people had been agitating for their rights since many years. He attributed the long struggle to the UCIL management ignoring the demand for tripartite discussions and is rejecting any agreement to be arrived at in the discussions. Kisku alleged, “The UCIL management is least bothered about government regulations or about the displaced or adversely affected people. We are visiting every affected village and villagers due to the UCIL mines expansion in an attempt to garner unanimity and intensify the agitation till our demands are met. We shall call a general meeting and take unanimous consensus of the affected people soon.”
