Jamshedpur, Sep 30: Hundreds of people took out a rally in Steel city today against the Tata Steel for allegedly not providing those affected by the Dimna dam project with adequate rehabilitation entitlement.
People from several villages nearby with their demands started ‘Jal Satyagraha’ on Monday. The displaced along with compensation and adequate rehabilitation also demanded a high school and dispensary in the area. In the operating of fish and vessel the displaced rights should be restored. Corporate social responsibility should be initiated and priority should be given in the employment and apprentice at Tata Steel.
To emphasize the above demands hundreds of villagers started ‘Jal Satyagraha’ at 11 in the morning which continued till 6 pm.
On the occasion Sumitra Singh, Vandna Singh, Mala Kumari, Pinki, Lusca Singh, Raymani Singh, Rehuna Singh, Sohan Singh, Deven Singh, Mansa Ram Singh, Mahabir, Kapoor Bagi, Sukhdev Singh, Lalait Singh and several others participated.
To support the movement Nishant Akhilesh, Kumar Mardi, Mansi and Arvind Anjum are heading the movement. Kumar Dilip and Madan Mohan of Mukti Vahini told that ‘Jal Satyagraha will continue on Tuesday and if still Tata Steel doesn’t take the necessary steps then on Gandhi Jayati Day on Oct 2 we might offer arrest.
