Dilapidated postal department quarters in Jamshedpur face eviction notice

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, Mar 15: A sense of panic has gripped a family of 22 postal employees residing in dilapidated quarters provided by the postal department. They have been served a sudden eviction notice, compelling them to vacate the premises. This development has left the postal workers distressed and concerned about their living arrangements.

Postal employees have raised grievances regarding the condition of the quarters, highlighting that despite rent deductions from their salaries, there has been a significant lapse in the repair and maintenance of the buildings. Shockingly, within just 40 years, the Civil Wing of the Postal Department has deemed the buildings unsafe for habitation.

While postal workers have been instructed to vacate the towers until repairs are carried out, union representatives argue that no concrete plans or directives for repairs have been issued. They assert that postal workers deserve suitable living conditions and demand action to address their concerns.

Out of the total 39 flats, 22 are occupied by families of postal workers, while the union office operates in two flats.
