Jamshedpur: The Cheshire Home in Sundernagar saw the birth of yet another ray of hope when 46 differently abled inmates had their voter cards made.
The District Election Office (DEO) and the District Welfare branch in association with Jharkhand Viklang Manch initiated the inclusion of names of all mentally affected women at the home in the voters� list. The names of 46 such inmates of Cheshire Home were included in the voters� list.
The program was jointly inaugurated by the District Welfare officer Lakshmi Bharati, District Deputy Election officer Gayatri Kumari and Jharkhand Viklang Manch president Arun Kumar Singh.
The District Election Officer stated that a special camp had been organized at the Cheshire Home to enlist the differently abled people in the voters� list. It was also informed that similar camps would be organized at Asha Kiran, School of Hope and similar other institutions. This project had been launched to provide everyone the access to exercise their voting rights. The names of differently abled persons above the age of 18 years will be included in the voters� list.
The District Welfare Officer informed that the department had launched an awareness drive on the project through the Anganwadi centres.
State advisory board member and Jharkhand Viklang Manch president Arun Kumar Singh while appreciating this move by the election department, said that his organization was ever ready to support such projects.
Founder of the Manch, Raj Kumar Singh played an important role in organizing this camp.
