Diesel, Petrol Shortage Hits Jamshedpur, Restrictions at Fuel Stations

Jamshedpur

The shortage of diesel and petrol continues to trouble residents across the Kolhan region, including Jamshedpur. With supply disruptions showing no immediate signs of improvement, petrol pump operators are taking measures to regulate fuel distribution and avoid panic buying.

Limits Imposed at Key Fuel Stations
Several petrol pumps, including one located in Dobo, have introduced limits on fuel purchases. As per the new guidelines, customers can buy a maximum of 200 litres of diesel and 50 litres of petrol per transaction. Notices outlining these limits have been prominently displayed at fuel stations.

Decision Aimed at Preventing Disputes
According to a manager of the Dobo petrol pump, earlier attempts to verbally request customers to limit purchases often led to arguments and confrontations. The decision to issue written notices was taken to bring clarity, maintain order, and prevent disputes between customers and staff.

Curbing Hoarding and Ensuring Fair Access
Pump operators revealed that some individuals had been attempting to stockpile fuel in large quantities, filling drums and containers. This practice led to shortages for regular commuters. By enforcing limits, operators aim to ensure that fuel remains available to a larger number of consumers.

Similar Measures Likely at Other Pumps
Authorities and pump owners indicated that similar restrictions may soon be implemented at other fuel stations across the Kolhan region. The move is seen as a temporary but necessary step to manage the ongoing crisis and ensure equitable distribution of fuel.
