Jamshedpur, Oct 12: In a major operation on Sunday, Dhanbad police apprehended Ashish Singh, a resident of Kadma, from the Dobo Bridge area of Jamshedpur. Ashish was allegedly involved in a recent incident of aerial firing in Dhanbad, following which police had been actively searching for him.

According to sources, the police, dressed in plain clothes, were present at the bridge during a BJP leader Aditya Sahu’s welcome event. Taking advantage of the gathering, officers swooped in and arrested Ashish Singh Rajput, leading to a tense situation at the venue.

Reports suggest that supporters of Ashish clashed with BJP leader Harjeet, also known as Chintu Singh, resulting in a scuffle involving punches and kicks. The altercation caused momentary chaos at the event.

“After taking Ashish into custody, we are interrogating him regarding the Dhanbad firing case. Our search for four to five other youths involved in the incident is ongoing,” said a senior police officer.

Authorities are continuing raids in Dhanbad to apprehend other members of the group connected to the case. No major injuries were reported during the scuffle at Dobo Bridge, though the tense standoff highlighted the volatile situation in the area.
