Dhanbad Food Safety Dept seals Carvinal Cafe for operating Hukka Bar

Dhanbad Sept 26 : District Food Safety  Department on Friday sealed a posh restaurant of coal city Memko More based Carvinal Cafe for violation Cigarette and Other Tobacco Product  Act ( COTPA) 2006 and Jharkhand  Amendment  Act June 2035.

District Food Safety  officer Raja Kumar  said that  the restaurant had been operating without license since March 24, 2023 and  was running  Hukka   Bar  despite  ban in the state.

 “ A team of  department made sudden raid in the restaurant  today and  sealed the organization after finding   serving Hukka Bar to customers. The team seized Hukka, Chilam and other banned items”, said  DFSO who has launched  special campaign against  adulterated  foods in the district.

 Since  June 11, 2025, this is first time  food safety department has  sealed  a posh restaurant for serving to consumers. Jharkhand government on June  11 , 2025 imposed ban on Hukka Bar in restaurant and hostels of state.

 Under this amendment  a per can be fined  Rs 1000 for smoking on public place, consuming tobacco and spitting .

 “ For time being restaurant has been sealed for violating COTPA  now legal action would be initiated  against operator of  organization”, said Raja Kumar FSO.

 Since has assumed office in Dhanbad supply of  adulterated Khowa, Paneer and  other mik products ( Peda and sweets)  from  Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have been  almost  stopped.
