Demand to ban unauthorized stalls at Sakchi during Vijayadashami

Jamshedpur, Sept 25: For the past 50 years, the Shri Shri Bal Mandir in Sakchi Market has been organizing the Durga Puja and Ram Navami festivals.

The committee’s secretary and license holder, Suman Agrawal, highlighted that in the last 4–5 years, unauthorized stalls and markets have been set up on the immersion route on Vijayadashami day.

According to Agrawal, these illegal setups create significant difficulties during the idol immersion process.

Despite informing the district administration every year, no action has been taken against the offenders.

Even when the immersion route is finalized with the approval of both the district administration and the Puja committee, illegal stalls continue to appear on the designated path.

Agrawal further mentioned that from midnight of Navami, encroachers begin setting up stalls.

He demanded clarity on who authorizes these markets and called for strict action against those responsible.

He also  urged the district administration to take concrete steps to ensure no footpath stalls are allowed in Sakchi Market during Durga Puja and Vijayadashami.

Agrawal also requested the administration’s support to ensure that the Durga Puja festivities and immersion procession are carried out peacefully and smoothly.
