Jamshedpur, May 7: Dhanbad Diamond team beat Jamshedpur Veterans by 55 runs while BTMPL Asansol beat Kalinga Warriors Odisha by seven wickets in the first 40 plus East Zone Master T20 cricket tournament matches played at Keenan Stadium on Saturday. Batting first Dhanbad scored 162 for 5 in 20 overs. Santosh Singh contributed 67 runs (retired out), Kanchan Singh 53, Soumik Chatterjee 19 and Jai Prakash Rai scored 10 runs.
For Jamshedpur, Avinash Kumar took three wickets, Mahesh and Suman Mandir Dutta took a wicket each. In reply, Jamshedpur Veterans were all out for 107 runs in 15.2 overs. Prashant made 39, KV Srinivasan made 16, Ravi Ranjan scored 11 and Shambhu Puri scored 10 runs. Umesh Yadav, Sanjay Sharma and Sanjay Kumar of Dhanbad took 2 wickets each, Arvind, Mukhtiar and Vasat took a wicket each. Man of the Match award was bagged by Santosh Singh of Dhanbad, best batsman award went to Kanchan Singh, and best bowler to Avinash Kumar of Jamshedpur while best fielder award was received by Ritesh Kumar. Former international women cricketers Charanjit and Mamta Moonka handed over the awards. In second match of the day, Asansol team defeated Kalinga. Batting first, Kalinga scored 51 runs all out. For Asansol, Malay Jena took four wickets giving away 11 runs, Siddharth took three and Shantanu dismissed two players. In response, Asansol team won the match in 8.4 overs losing three wickets.
Kundan Pandit scored 28 runs. Robot took 2 wickets for Kalinga. Asansol’s Kundan Pandit bagged the best batsman award, A Majumdar was awarded for the best catch and Kalinga’s Ravana received best bowler award. Former international cricketer Rajiv Seth and former national hockey player Gurmeet Singh awarded the winners. Sanjay Singh, Vice President of Tata Workers Union was present.
