Baharagora: Devotees thronged the Shitla Mandir in the Baharagora Block Market area as religious incantations filled the air on the occasion of the installation ceremony of the Divine Mother in the temple.
The Kalash Yatra comprising 108 women collected water from the Swarnrekha River at Merughati and with the metal pots on their heads returned in a procession to the temple. After the pots were placed at the feet of Ma Shitla, the prayer rituals conducted by priest Basudeb Pradhan commenced. Amidst the recitation of slokas, the devotees stood entranced while the women recited verses of glorifying the Deity.
Devotional songs were presented in the evening. Legislator Kunal Shadangi offered his prayers to Goddess Shitla asking for peace and harmony among the people.
The organizers of the installation ceremony included Rabindra Nath Das, Tarun Mishra, Suman Mandal, Nirmal Dubey, Vijay Dutta, Baptu Sao, Chandi Charan Sao, Sushim Pattanayak and others.
