Devotees offer new harvest to Ma Pauri, SDO prays for peace and happiness

Seraikela, Sept 11: All the local worship rituals of Seraikela are performed by the state government after merger of the princely estate of Seraikela. The government undertakes to organize all festivals including Durga Puja and Chaitra festival. the traditional Nuakhai Jatai Puja of the region was organized on Saturday at Pauri Mandir in Seraikela, invoking the deity of the region, Ma Pauri, with traditional prayer rituals. Seraikela Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Ram Krishna Kumar, ex-officio secretary of Rajkiya Chhau Nritya Kala Kendra, Seraikela, was the host of the prayer proceedings in the company of the Director of the Kendra, Guru Tapan Kumar Pattanaik.

The SDO prayed to the Goddess for happiness, peace and prosperity of the region. On this occasion Ma Pauri was offered the first paddy grains of the new harvest. Former Instructor of the Kendra Vijay Sahu and artistE Sushant Mahapatra were present on the occasion. All COVID protocols were maintained during the rituals.

The worship of Ma Pauri was followed by the worship of Ma Jhumkeshwari that was performed by Guru Tapan Kumar Pattanaik and was attended by all the artistes of the Kendra.Prayers were offered for peace and prosperity of the region and eradication of the COVID pandemic. The first crops of the new harvest were offered to the deity after which the consecrated food was distributed among the devotees.

Nuakhai Jatai Puja: – According to the religious tradition of the region, it is a tradition to cook new grains in homes only after offering food grains to the presiding deity of the region, Ma Pauri. This ritual is known as Nuakhai Jatai Puja.
