Jamshedpur, August 17: Vice President of the East Singhbhum District Congress Committee, Bablu Jha has expressed concern over the growing number of dengue cases almost in all areas in and around Jamshedpur. He has urged the Jharkhand Health and Disaster Management Minister Banna Gupta and the Deputy Commissioner to take up the disconcerting issue in right earnest to put a check on dengue infection before it turned into a pandemic.
Bablu suggested that proper sanitation measures be taken especially in slum areas of the city including spraying bleaching powder and regular lifting of garbage.
In a tweet, the Congress leader informed that the dengue outbreak was increasing rapidly in the slums of Jamshedpur. “Long queues of patients afflicted with dengue are visible at the medical centers in the city and these are distressing sights.” Bablu Jha pointed out that the changing weather conditions and stagnant water in the city were the main causes leading to the breeding and growth of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes that cause dengue with their bites.
It may be mentioned that symptoms are not apparent immediately but start emerging after 3 to 5 days. Those infected by the Aedes mosquito bites experience sudden rise of temperature in their bodies accompanied with feeling of cold, pain in the head, muscles, eyes, and joints. Red rashes resembling sunburn might appear on the face and chest. Immediate medical attention is required when such symptoms appear.
The Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which has distinctive stripes like a tiger, spreads dengue by biting humans.
