Ranchi: Dengue and chikungunya are wreaking havoc in Jharkhand. So far, 584 cases of dengue and 223 cases of chikungunya have been identified in the entire state. More than a dozen districts are under the grip of dengue and at least ten districts of Chikungunya. Jamshedpur has the highest number of dengue patients at 475, while Ranchi is second. A patient has died here. 56 dengue and 72 chikungunya patients have been identified in Ranchi.
This figure is also from the McEliza test. Out of these 75 to 80 patients are those whose antigen test report has come positive. Patients undergoing treatment have decreased platelets. Ratu Road, Bariatu, Indrapuri, Kumhar Toli, Madhukam, Chutia, and Vardhaman Compound of Ranchi have many dengue patients who are being treated at home.
According to the Health Department data, 786 people have been tested for dengue and chikungunya in Ranchi from January to August. There are two patients who have both dengue and chikungunya. 77 dengue victims are being treated in Reims. Cases of dengue are coming to light in government as well as private labs.
State Vector Borne Diseases SPO Dr. BK Singh said that the highest number of dengue patients in Jharkhand is in East Singhbhum. In view of the rising cases of dengue and chikungunya, the demand for platelets has increased in the capital Ranchi. About 10 units of platelets are needed in Ranchi every day.
According to the data, where the need of platelets was 96 units in July, it has increased to 252 units since August. Out of the 18 blood banks in Ranchi, 11 have not even a single unit of platelets available. There are 66 units of platelets available in 7 private blood banks. However, even here it is not guaranteed that platelets will be received on time. Dr. CB Sharma, a physician of Rimes, said that more than 120 patients are reaching the OPD of Rimes every day with dengue or similar symptoms. Even after writing an investigation, they shy away from conducting an investigation. They do not come even when called for review with the report in 2-3 days. Patients who have fever for more than 7 days are also reaching the OPD. At the same time, the number of patients admitted here is also increasing.
In view of the increased number of mosquito-borne diseases, special arrangements have been made in the government hospitals of the capital Ranchi. Separate arrangements have been made for the treatment of dengue patients in RIMS and Sadar hospitals. While there are 50 beds in RIMS, 36 beds have been arranged in Sadar Hospital.
Also, guidelines have been issued to the districts by the state program of vector-borne diseases to prevent dengue. The team is also destroying mosquito larvae by going door to door. The municipal corporation has formed 10 teams to check the larvae.
It is worth noting that dengue larvae thrive in clean water. Dengue is caused by the bite of the Aedes mosquito. In this, the person has a high fever with headache and pain behind the eyes. Apart from this, joint and muscle pain can also be accompanied by fatigue.
