Joda, July 23: With an objective to create awareness among the people in and around Joda and Noamundi on dengue and the means to combat the menace, a month-long campaign was launched by Tata Steel�s Ores, Mines & Quarries (OMQ) Division on Tuesday at Joda West Auditorium, Joda.
The awareness campaign was launched by Khirod Kumar Behera (OAS), Tahasildar, Barbil & Block development Officer, Joda, in the presence of Shirish Sekhar, Chief, Khondbond, Tata Steel, Dr A K Roy, Chief Medical Officer, Tata Steel Hospital, Joda, Anil Oraon, Head, Administration, OMQ, Tata Steel, S P Singh, senior Manager, Land & Lease, Khondbond Project, OMQ, Tata Steel and Tanmay Kar, Unit Head TSRDS, Joda, Tata Steel.
Apart from creating awareness on Dengue prevention, the campaign will also harp upon prevention of malaria and other water borne diseases in the region.
Apart from fogging and larvicidal spray in and around the Division to eliminate mosquitoes and their breeding sites, the month-long campaign includes awareness sessions with the help of a �Soochana Rath� that will visit around 50 nearby villages including Joda municipality, distribution of informative leaflets to the community,propaganda through audio, fogging in and around the Division, awareness sessions among students of 28 schools of the region and awareness sessions among villagers through �nukkad natak�.
While fogging has been undertaken in company premises and villages adjacent to Tata Steel in Joda and Noamundi, the facility will be extended to around 50 nearby villagesincluding Joda municipality. To boost awareness on precautions against dengue, Tata Steel has put out communication messages through hoarding boards on Dengue awareness in prominent locations at Joda and Noamundi.
