Jamshedpur, March 29: The demand has been growing for regular movement of vehicles inside the Jubilee Park and to keep open the gates as like before.

On Wednesday, a delegation of social organisation Jan Satyagrah urged the deputy commissioner Amit Kumar to take up the matter in public interest and they also submitted a demand memorandum to DC. According to the memorandum, the Jan Satyagrah workers also demanded police personnel before every school, women’s college and all prominent locations to prevent girls and women from being teased and groped by ‘roadside Romeos’, a mild term for harassers and anti-social elements.

The copy of the memorandum has been submitted to Senior superintendent of police and SDO. Present on the occasion were Manjit Kumar Mishra, Rajesh Jha, Durga Prasad, Mahesh Paswan, Shams Tabrez Khan, Jeet Arya, Satendra Sharma and others.

According to the delegation of Jan Satyagrah, a memorandum with the same demand was submitted to DC on 8 March 2016 and 22 May 2016 but its more than a year but no action has been taken by the district administration.

It may be noted that from December 1, 2015 the East Singhbhum district administration, acting on the proposal of Jusco, decided to keep open the Jubilee park for public viewing only till 8pm, instead of 11pm. The picnics and parties inside the park were also banned from December 1 to an indefinite period. Rash driving and obscenity indulged by young couples inside the park were stated as the reasons.

Vehicles movement was also banned from plying on the road passing through JN Tata statue, Mughal Gardens, Children Park and Nicco Amusement Park on all days. There is no vehicular movement on Sundays as gates remains closed.
