Jamshedpur: A delegation of BJP Azadnagar Mandal met SSP Anup Birtharay at his office and demanded the disbanding of the peace committee under Azadnagar police station. The delegation led by BJP Azadnagar Mandal president Md Nisar Ahmad handed a letter of demand to the SSP.
The delegation contended that the members of the peace committee had remained in their capacities for more than a decade not allowing for a change in the setup and had been plying their own underhanded deals. In fact, the delegation claimed that instead of peace there had been a spurt in crimes in Azadnagar and nothing had been done to check these antisocial activities. The area has become very sensitive due to the dormant attitude of the peace committee. The BJP delegation claimed that theft, murder and cases of snatching had become routine in the locality. A few months earlier there was a rumor of child lifting but the timely intervention of the administration saved the situation from getting out of hand but the peace committee remained mute spectator on the issue.
Instead, the delegation accused the peace committee of being hand in glove with unethical agents and was spreading rumors and anti government messages to disturb peace among the people of Azadnagar. The BJP Mandal president showed some screen shots of such messages sent among the committee group related to the anti government propagation. Such messages were anti central and state governments including the Prime Minister, MPs and ministers. A few days earlier, Md Nisar Ahmad said that there was an attack on the BJP office but the police did not take any action.
The SSP assured the delegation of treating the demands seriously and start an investigation after which stern action would be taken against those responsible.
The BJP Azadnagar Mandal delegation included Tanvir Hasan, Dilawar Khan, Meraj Mirza, Sunny Mirza, Raju Yadav and Md Irshad.
