Demand for Bangla as state language of Jharkhand

Jamshedpur, Feb 22: Amra Bangali organization held a demonstration at the Sakchi main roundabout demanding state language status to Bangla in Jharkhand, provision of Bengali teachers and books in all educational institutions, all government and non-government correspondence in Bengali language, announcements at rail and bus stations in Bangla, signboards be written in Bangla, form a committee to safeguard the interests of the children of the soil, preserve and propagate Bengali culture,  to provide cent percent jobs to all local people and give industry status to agriculture. Representatives from all the three districts of Kolhan division, East Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharsawan and West Singhbhum participated in the meeting. Artistes of the three Kolhan districts performed Chhau, Kathi and Jhumar dances while traditional Bengali Baul Sangeet and Bhadu, Majhi and Natua dances were presented on the occasion by Bengal and Kolhan artistes.

 The participants in the protest meeting took an oath that until the Bangla language was denied the status of Jharkhand State Language and the Bangla culture and the economic condition of the local people of Jharkhand was not strengthened, the Amra Bengali Party movement would continue.  Ashish Nag Chowdhary, Angad Mahato, Tapas Mahato, Lalit Mohan Mahato, Gour Mohan Guha, Tarit Banerjee, Shyama Prasad Mahato, Narendra Nath Mahato, Krishna Pad Singh, Jagannath Singh, Rekha Mahato, Shikha Mahato, Sapna Guha among others participated in the demonstration meeting.
