Red Fort Blast Probe: Delhi Police Bust Multi-State Terror Module

New Delhi (IANS): The Delhi Police Special Cell dismantled a high-risk radicalization module on Saturday, arresting four individuals from Maharashtra, Odisha, and Bihar. Officials confirmed that the investigation established a connection to the Red Fort blast, which claimed 11 lives and left several others injured in November 2025.

The Special Cell team, led by Inspectors Vinay Pal and Manoj Kumar under the supervision of ACP Ashish Kumar, tracked the suspects across three states following reports of online recruitment for “jihad.” Police identified the arrested youths as Mosaib Ahmad, Jalaluddin Siddiqui, Mohammad Hammad (all from Maharashtra), Sheikh Imran (Odisha), and Mohammad Sohail (Bihar).

IED Preparation and Modus Operandi

During the operation, police recovered IED-making materials, including ball bearings, nails, and remote-controlled toy car circuits. Investigators revealed that the module used encrypted social media platforms to coordinate their activities:

  • Mechanical Assembly: Mosaib Ahmad, a mechanic by profession, allegedly assisted Mohammad Hammad by stripping the circuits of remote-controlled toy cars to assemble a functional IED.
  • Target Reconnaissance: Sheikh Imran reportedly recced sensitive installations, including Parliament, the Ram Mandir, and the Red Fort. In December 2025, he allegedly posted a photo of the Red Fort featuring a black flag to incite followers.
  • Crowdfunding & Weapons: Mohammad Sohail used social media to exhort youth for ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind.’ He shared bank account details to crowdfund for weapons and explosives and promised to arrange arms training for new recruits.

Radicalization Trail

The investigation found that the accused fell into radical circles in 2024 through online lectures. They eventually formed “closed groups” to recruit others and source local materials for a remote-controlled terrorist attack.

Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. While the suspects are in custody, officials continue to analyze seized mobile phones and digital footprints to identify further links to domestic or international terror networks.
